There is only one Canon PC420 toner cartridge that is used for operation.  It is full of black printer toner and is simple to install and remove.  The cartridge that comes upon purchase has the ability to last for 1,000 pages before needing to be replaced.  Replacements can last up to 4,000 prints.  These can be purchased new from the manufacturer or remanufactured from third party vendors.  When you do decide to get replacement Canon PC420 toner, you will also be getting a new drum, which is attached.

It might seem like a big investment to throw down a hundred bucks, but in the long run it will be well worth it. You can print your documents whenever you want them. You could even consider purchasing a portable unit so you can take it wherever you need to go.
